Make Your Own Sea Salt Spray!
Updated: Feb 13, 2020
So I ran out of sea salt spray today! In my rage against plastic bottles I didn't want to buy a new one. So, I thought I would make my own, it can't be that difficult, can it? In fact it was really easy and it actually works really well!!
Sea salt spray enhances natural waves and give you that just off the beach look, I have slightly wavy hair, so I just use it to give a little bit of extra texture and volume.
So lets get making...
Step 1: Heat the water in a pan until almost boiling, then turn off the heat.
Step 2: Stir in the salt, until fully dissolved.
Step 3: Stir in the aloe vera and coconut oil.
Step 4: Let the water cool down. It is important to wait for the water to cool down or the heat will break down the essential oils.
Steps 5: Add the essential oils.
Step 6: Pour into your bottle and shake well. Now you are ready to use! :)
The spray is best added to damp hair and left to dry naturally, you can also add to dry hair.
Here I found a good article from Dr. Axe, which explains the benefits of different essential oils, I used Rosemary for mine as it is good for hair thickness and growth.
I found if left in the cold bathroom the coconut oil solidifies, if this happens to you just leave it to sit in warm water for 5 mins and it will soon go back to a liquid.
Hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial, if you make your own please leave me a comment and let me know how it goes! xx
